Private Sewer (Septic) Systems where Public Sewer is Expected

In some cases, properties may have private sewer systems where a public sewer connection is expected. This normally occurs when a sewer scope is ordered before searching records for the sewer status. Sometimes, property listings have incorrect information or public records are not available and it’s the responsibility of a home buyer to conduct due diligence with the help of their broker.

 Here’s a video where I inadvertently entered a septic tank awhile back. As you can see, the counter is still moving along while the camera stays still. Because everything was clogged and underwater, I couldn’t see when it entered the septic tank. We can use this as an example of what you will see if you enter into a septic tank.
