Access for Sewer Scopes through Cleanouts

Building sewers are typically accessed through an exterior cleanout near the home.

This allows the scope to immediately enter the building sewer. With long building sewer lines, this also helps ensure that the scope fiber optic cable can reach all the way to the main sewer.

Exterior cleanouts may be concealed beneath decks or other items. Homeowners sometimes dislike the look of exposed piping and locate them behind or under rocks or vegetation. 

Homes built in certain eras do not have an exterior cleanout. 

Home inspectors who conduct sewer scopes typically have already inspected the home, so should have the best knowledge of the building sewer access.
